La Tartuga
té un secret

This year I have illustrated a new comic about the figures of the Associació de Gegants i Cabets d’Ontinyent, whose story provides, in a somewhat chilling way at first, an explanation of the reason behind a new ceremony inaugurated this year with the figure of the Tartuga:
To help the youngest children say goodbye to their pacifiers, during the parade on the eve of the Purísima and Corpus festivals, they will be able to hang their pacifier on the turtle’s spikes. In return, they will receive sweets. A symbolic gesture that turns a small farewell into an act of collective celebration.

The story and texts are by Rafel Sanchis, and the edition has been handled by the Associació de Gegants i Cabets d’Ontinyent. The comic has been distributed to children in nursery schools, early years, primary education, and special education in Ontinyent, to introduce the new ceremony.
