In October 2004, the 6th Mostra de Cinema d’Ontinyent was held, which that year included, for the first time and in an unprecedented manner, the screening of audiovisual works by local artists. At the beginning of the summer, I was invited to participate, and with limited time until the presentation, I developed a small plot divided into two sections, in which I mixed elements of real life with fiction.
In the first section, I appear myself playing an author who is commissioned to make an audiovisual work, combining real images with drawings. The second section shows the audiovisual work itself, now completely animated.
The short film had no dialogue, although it featured original music composed by my sister Carme, reproduced using digital media. The locations for the first part were spaces belonging to friends and acquaintances. My resources at that time limited the technical quality of the work, but they allowed me to shape a creative and experimental project within the available time frame.
After the exhibition, some of the short films made by the local artists were selected for the 7th edition of the Premis Tirant awards, which at that time were one of the most important showcases in the audiovisual sector. The selected works were ‘Nòmades del temps’ by Cesc Biosca and Patricio Ferrero, ‘Somnus’ by the production company Amneu, and my own audiovisual work. The project did not go beyond that selection and, although the audiovisual work was a finalist, it did not win any awards.
