I had the opportunity to participate as an illustrator in ‘Contamos contigo’, a charity book published by Editorial Sargantana. This is a collective work of children’s and young adult literature in which writers and illustrators have contributed our work free of charge. The proceeds will go to nine municipal libraries that were completely destroyed by the floods and which, before the storm, were true centres of cultural revitalisation and reading promotion for the affected populations.
The book brings together stories, poems, short stories and illustrations designed for young readers, with very different styles and voices, but with the same underlying intention: that culture can also serve to repair, accompany and restore reading spaces where they have been lost.
As an illustrator, being part of a project like this has a special value. Not only because I get to share pages with other professionals, but also because I know that each copy contributes directly to books regaining their place in libraries.
